Travel around Tasmania
Everyone has their dream might be one day will come
true.
But when your life changes suddenly, you need to
make another plan.
Before Covid 19, we plan to travel around the
world. The Pandemic changes our travel plan. Temporary, we will travel around
Tasmania until The Pandemic is over.
Tasmania has some places to explore. I hope many
people reading this are interested in visiting Tasmania. Some people still
don't know where Tasmania is. They think Tasmania in New Zealand. It is my
responsibility to introduce Indonesian people to Tasmania.
Explore not only the place that you visit but also
native plants, flowers, animals.
Enjoy your reading our first travel around Tasmania to Queenstown and Strahan, Tasmanian west coast.
You need to check the cafes, general stores, gasoline - station and prepare for cold weather before travelling.
Distance from Howrah to Queenstown is 254 km and from Howrah to Strahan is 307 km. My partner Driving the car not too fast, mobile phone ready in my hand. I like to take pictures from the car, sometimes find something interesting when the car is driving.
The first town we stopped at the Hamilton, a
township with delicious beef pies and beautiful scenery. Hot chocolate and
yummy beef pies before lunchtime. We also bought cherries fresh at the stall on
the way. Tasmanian's cherry is famous and sweet also cheap. The price is about
10 AUD per kilogram here compared to Indonesia 80 AUD.
We had lunch at "The Wall", the wood
museum with a restaurant inside. The foods are yummy but not allowed to take a
picture at the museum.
We continued the drive to Queenstown before sunset.
On the way to Queenstown, we stop at Collinwood River National Park and rafting
place. The river water is like clear tea because of minerals and
microorganisms, flora and fauna still alive there.
We visited the Nelson Falls, ten minutes from the front. The trees growing so well, green with the big palm tree. Fresh air and Oxygens, cold but still need to use sunblock. One thing that you need to remember your sunblock in Tasmania has high ultraviolet causes skin cancer. The sound of Nelson Falls can hear a few meters before. The roar of the Nelson Falls water creates a sense of comfort.Nelson Falls
Before we arrived at Queenstown, we could see Horsetail Falls, like horsetail long and slim. But we are not going to Horsetail Falls, too high to reach. Finally, we could see Queenstown from above the town in the valley on the western slopes of Mount Owen on the west coast Of Tasmania. Surrounded the town can see by yellowish limestone mountains.
Because holiday only one pub open at Queenstown, so
we still could have our dinner there. We stayed at Empire Hotel, the best hotel
in Queenstown.
We visited the old train station "Queenstown Station", the train still using wood for energy and the train interior from timber. The most interested was the toilet top also made using timber. Impossible in Indonesia. On the second day, light raining in the morning, we continue driving to Strahan 42 km from Queenstown. We found wildlife and beautiful views on the way to Strahan. Arrived Strahan, we directly check-in at the hotel. After that quick lunch at Banjo’s Cafe because we need to buy a Gordon River Cruise ticket. Six hours boat tour at Gordon River and visiting Sarah island.
The breakfast at Shark Cafe with delicious Banana's
bread is our breakfast for three days during stayed at Strahan.
On the second day, light raining in the morning, we
continue driving to Strahan 42 km from Queenstown. We found wildlife and
beautiful views on the way to Strahan. Arrived Strahan, we directly check-in at
the hotel. After that quick lunch at Banjos Cafe because we need to buy a
Gordon River Cruise ticket. Six hours boat tour at Gordon River and visiting
Sarah island.
Gordon River Cruise
Boat with around 150 persons, two levels. Pass Macquarie harbour, lighthouse and rock two kilometers in the middle of the sea. We visited Sarah island, established in the remote reaches of Macquarie harbour. The government used this island as a penal settlement where convicts labour.
We had lunch at the boat and then back to the marina at Strahan.
